The Orlando Sentinel is reporting a very serious and fatal truck accident that occurred at the intersection of State Road 33 and County Road 561 in Lake County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Michael Bradbury was driving a semi truck with a trailer full of sand on State Road 33. As he approached the intersection of County Road 561 he somehow lost control of his truck, causing it to turn over on its side, and sending his trailer sliding on to County Road 561.

Unfortunately, Robert Michael Day, of Clermont, was driving his Chevrolet van at the intersection at that moment. Mr. Day’s van was hit and burst into flames. Mr. Day was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

As an Orlando accident law firm, our hearts go out to the family of Mr. Day. It was reported that Mr. Bradbury was also injured, so we wish him a speedy recovery, as well.

Apparently, the cause of Mr. Bradbury’s losing control of his truck is still unknown. Being familiar with that intersection, it would not appear that road conditions or the design of the intersection would have contributed to causing the crash.

Professional truck drivers receive special training to learn how to control heavy loads. There are special rules that apply to how they operate heavy trucks, and the conditions under which they can work. It would be interesting to know a little bit more about Mr. Bradbury’s experience, training, and fitness to drive that day.
