Florida Department of Children and Families investigators continue to be busy investigating Kenneth Hagins.  As I posted here last week, Mr. Hagins was originally arrested in connection with allegations that he molested or sexually assualted a young child in daycare, and also a group home resident.  In the time leading up to his arrest, Mr. Hagins was working as a daycare assistant at Pat’s Kidz World in Eustis, as well as Sunrise Arc, a group home for disabled people.

Channel 6 in Orlando is now posting that officials have found approximately six additional victims.  DCF officials are worried that there are even more victims that have not yet come forward.  In addition to the daycare and the group home, Mr. Hagins apparently also served as a youth pastor at Promise Land Ministries in Eustis.

Unfortunately, as Florida child sexual abuse attorneys, it has been our experience that many sexual predators, or others intent on sexually abusing children, tend to gravitate toward positions that will bring them very close to children.  For example, in the past we have been involved in Florida sexual abuse cases involving teachers, workers at Christian-based homes for troubled teens, and a Big Brother in a mentoring program, among others.  These types of programs and institutions have a duty to help avoid child molestation by doing very thorough background checks and to closely monitor or supervise the contacts between adults and children.
