The Orlando Sentinel provided this tragic story about a horrendous crash on Highway 60 in Osceola County.  Apparently, William Wilke, of Boynton Beach, was heading eastbound on State Road 60 near Peavine Trail when his vehicle drifted across the center line and struck a sports utility vehicle heading westbound carrying three passengers.

The driver and one of the passengers of the sports utility vehicle suffered minor injuries, but the two other passengers received injuries serious enough that they were transported (presumably by helicopter) to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Meanwhile, once the Wilke vehicle came to rest following the initial collision, it was apparently hit by a semi-tractor trailer being driven by Danny Frederick of Burnside, Kentucky.  Tragically, Mr. Wilke was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is no known whether Mr. Wilke was killed as a result of the initial collision, or whether the impact by Mr. Frederick’s tractor-trailer caused his death.  The Florida Highway patrol reportedly is still investigating this crash.
