Seven people were hurt in a serious crash at the intersection of Oak Ridge Road and Rio Grande Avenue in Orlando, and six people were hurt in a 3-car wreck on International Speedway Boulevard in Daytona Beach, on Saturday night.

The accident on Oak Ridge involved two cars, and two of the occupants were reportedly seriously injured.  Two children were also involved in this crash, but apparently their injuries were minor.  The property damage to the vehicles was significant enough that fire rescue personnel had to use the “jaws of life” to extricate vehicle passengers.

In Daytona Beach, a white mid-sized sedan was traveling down International Speedway Boulevard when it attempted to make a left-hand turn on to Williamson Boulevard.  For whatever reason, the driver of the white sedan apparently did not see an oncoming silver truck and turned right into the truck.  The truck was forced into another vehicle in the crash.  Several people were taken by ambulance to Halifax Medical Center.  Two people were reportedly in critical condition, although the several children involved in the crash were unhurt.  It is not known whether charges have been issued.

These stories remind us that we all must use the utmost care when operating our vehicles – particularly when we have children on board.
