Orlando’s Channel 6 reported a tragic story last week that involved a mother and her two-year-old son being crushed to death by a truck hauling pineapples.

The crash occurred in Yeehaw Junction, a remote area in Osceola County where Highway 60 and the Florida Turnpike intersect.  The Florida Highway Patrol believes that a tractor-trailer rig being operated by Reynaldo Santos was going too fast as it tried to enter the Turnpike via an entrance ramp.  It is believed that Mr. Santos’ excess speed caused his vehicle to flip over and crush an S.U.V. traveling next to it.

Unfortunately, the S.U.V. was being driven by a 33-year old woman, and her son was a passenger.  Both mother and son suffered wrongful deaths as a result of this Osceola County truck accident.

While we do not know why Mr. Santos was speeding, or exactly why he lost control of his vehicle, we know that most truck accidents are caused by driver error or driver inattention.  Our hearts go out to the family of the woman and son, and we hope that their family receives justice.

Truck accidents can be difficult to pursue.  Check out this short video I made about truck accidents:
