If your own insurance company wants to talk to you, take a statement from you, or wants you to sign papers, you have a contractual duty to cooperate.  If you refuse to cooperate with your own insurance company, you may void your insurance coverage.  Therefore, we recommend that you generally do as your own insurance asks.

We would recommend, however, that you contact an attorney when it comes to signing documents.  You do not want to give up any important legal rights that you may have against your own insurance company by signing something that may help the insurance company, but may not be in your best interests.
