Polk County officials are trying to make something good out of a horrible event that occurred in 2008.  Back then, Heather Hurd, a 26-year old Davenport woman, was killed on U.S. Highway 27 in Polk County by a tractor-trailer that rear-ended her vehicle.

The driver of the tractor-trailer rig was texting while driving.  Sadly, Mr. Hurd was on her way to Disney World to plan her dream wedding.

In addition to keeping the memory of Ms. Hurd alive, hopefully, the memorial — which will be located beside U.S. Highway 27 at Sand Milne Road — will serve as a reminder to all drivers how dangerous texting while driving is.

If you, or a loved one, has been injured by another driver texting while driving, call Kim at 407-644-4444.
