According to new research published by Yahoo/CNBC based upon National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration data, Orlando ranks as the second worst city in the United States for wrongful deaths from car accidents.  Certainly, this is not an honor that Orlando, wants or needs.

According to the data, in 2010 Orlando had a total automobile-related fatality rate of 19.95 persons per 100,000 population.  The only city that was worse was Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, at 22.39.  Amazingly, one-third of the cities listed in the top 15 were from the State of Florida, and most of the list was populated by cities in the South.

As an Orlando accident attorney, I know that it is important for Orlando to get off of this list.  We can do that best by paying extra special attention to pedestrians (10.9%) of the deaths in Orlando were automobile versus pedestrian accidents.
