The Orlando Sentinel is reporting a tragic crash in Volusia County involving a semi tractor-trailer and a motorhome that left one woman dead, and her husband injured.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Sandra and Thomas Gentry of Titusville, were traveling north on Interstate 95 in north Volusia County in their motorhome. Somehow their vehicle was struck on the side by a passing semi tractor-trailer. This caused Mr. Gentry to lose control of his motor home, and enter the grass shoulder. His vehicle struck an embankment, cross an entrance ramp to the highway, and crash into a fence. Ms. Gentry was reportedly tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Unforgivably, the semi-truck driver decided not to stop. Witnesses say that the truck was white, and may have had a logo or the word “Prime” on the side.

As an Orlando accident attorney who has handled more than his share of trucking accident wrongful death cases, my heart goes out to the entire Gentry family. Hopefully, the truck driver who cavalierly left the scene of this obviously serious accident will be brought to just and face the serious felonies attached to the leaving the scene of an accident with injuries or death.
