Several local Orlando media outlets are reporting a tragic automobile versus pedestrian crash that occurred yesterday on West Colonial Drive, between Edgewater Drive and Westmoreland Drive.  Apparently, a 20-year old Orlando man with a history of careless driving crossed four lanes of traffic before crashing into a bus stop area.

Unfortunately, two women were waiting for the bus at that time.  One woman, a 31-year old devoted mother of two, was killed.  The other woman was older and was critically injured.  At this point, police are not releasing any information regarding the older woman, or why the 20-year old driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into these women who were waiting in a presumably safe place on the sidewalk.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of both women, and we will keep our fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for the surviving pedestrian.  As an Orlando accident attorney, I know how devastating a wrongful death from a car crash can be to a family.   Hopefully, the driver in this instance carried plenty of bodily injury liability coverage to adequately compensate these victims.  If not, I hope that each of these ladies has access to plenty of Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage.
