We often have clients ask us what a case management conference is. Depending on the circumstances of the case, any party to the lawsuit or the judge has the ability to call a case management conference. A case management conference can be used for a variety of different reasons.
Either of the parties involved could use a case management conference if they can’t agree on something or they need to plan the next step of the case. The parties may also request a case management conference to determine the judge’s trial docket availability.
A judge can also call the parties into a case management conference to discuss the progression of the case. If the attorneys aren’t getting along the judge could call for a case management conference in an effort to iron out any arguments and determine what steps each party will take next.
